One of the best camps in the famed Maasai Mara is without doubt Naibor Wilderness. With luxurious tents, delicious food, impeccable service, impressive Maasai guards and—best of it all—superior game viewing, Naibor is hard to beat. As always for me, the highlight was enjoying drinks and sharing stories around the campfire every evening. Our hosts go out of their way to make the whole experience magical.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Naibor Wilderness Camp is a superb location from which to explore the Maasai Mara, home to a vast array of wildlife. Numerous species of herbivores and ungulates support the many predators that thrive here, including a healthy population of lions. Guests can count on fantastic wildlife viewing throughout the year, and from July to November the annual wildebeest migration passes through this area. Naibor Wilderness is ideally located close to all the major wildebeest crossing sites over the Mara River. The main focus at Naibor is daily wildlife drives in open-sided 4x4 Land Cruisers to observe and photograph the impressive concentrations of wildlife. Cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages can be arranged, offering a chance to observe traditional dances and interact with the Maasai people. Hot air ballooning over the vast savanna teeming with wildlife is another exciting option, with a champagne breakfast served upon landing.
The Maasai Mara is home to an abundance of resident wildlife year-round. The great migration of nearly two million wildebeest and zebra is at its peak between late July and early October, while the local Loita wildebeest migration typically arrives in June. Other typical sightings may include a number of antelopes, endemic birds and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on rain patterns and wildlife movements.

Conservation
Naibor aids and involves nearby Maasai communities in preserving their local wildlife and environment, and also provides them with a source of income. This commitment enables rural populations to benefit from their natural resources in a sustainable and non-destructive way, and to better care for their families and improve their standard of living. Naibor recruits its staff from the nearby community. In addition, the community receives a direct contribution for every camp guest’s stay on a per-night basis. This contribution is dedicated to community social development projects. Naibor also helps to channel donations into micro-finance, health and education projects within the local area. The Naibor Shop is specifically designed to provide an outlet for locally made Maasai arts and crafts, providing the Maasai people with a market for their artistic talents. The women rely on the sale of their jewelry to bring in vital additional money to school, feed and provide medical care for their children.
