Our Expert Says

Mwiba Lodge is a newer camp in an exclusive reserve bordering the southern Serengeti. It exudes a level of luxury uncommon to this part of Africa while also blending in with its surroundings and using canvas, tented suites to put you closer to nature.

The Lodge

Mwiba Lodge is home to an exclusive 10 en suite tented rooms, including two pairs that adjoin for families. The interiors artfully integrate the natural surroundings with layer upon layer of textured creams paired with suede, tans and accents of chocolate and charcoal. From the linen dressed slope-armed sofas to ornately carved wooden leg tables and cascading lighting, the suites each give way to a wide-open layout where each room flows to another. The bathroom brings the outdoors inside with traditional canvas walls accented with copper fixtures, large soaking tubs with private outside showers, all with transporting views from hardwood plank decks. The grey slate-lined infinity-edge pool overlooks three springs where guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of a constant parade of wildlife.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities

At Mwiba Lodge, enjoy traditional day and night wildlife drives in open-sided 4x4 Land Cruisers, up close and personal observation of the leopards of Mwiba, the annual wildebeest calving season from January to March, guided bush walks with Mwiba scouts, cultural encounters with local people and optional fly-camping and bush picnics.

During the famous Great Migration, the wildebeest can be found dropping their young in the southern Serengeti between December and March, and are typically found attempting to cross the Mara River in the northern Serengeti between July and October. The resident wildlife in the park is found year-round. Other typical sightings may include jackal, warthogs and a number of other mammals, birds and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on rain patterns and wildlife movements.
