The Camp
Location: Between Tarangire and Lake Manyara, Tanzania
Number of Tents: 5
Little Chem Chem sits among the characteristic baobab trees of the Tarangire River landscape. Overlooking Lake Burunge with the Babati Mountains and hills of Tarangire forming stunning backdrops, the camp is a haven within a nearly 40,000-acre private land concession. With just five exquisite luxury tents, each with an en suite bathroom, the camp takes only 10 guests at any given time. Draped canvas, four-poster wooden beds, writing desks and casual lamps recreate the feeling of a bygone era, a "vintage" safari. Your tent is equipped with modern comforts, such as high end Molten Brown toiletries, a bathrobe and slippers and in-room locking safe. With little intrusion between you and the pristine wilderness, hear the sounds of lion calling at night and colorful water birds in the early morning.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Situated between two national parks, Chem Chem's private concession, once a natural migration corridor between the two parks, is an ideal location for nature and wildlife walks that compliment optional wildlife drives done here as well as in Tarangire and Lake Manyara national parks. Wildlife can be seen right from camp as well, with elephant, zebra and giraffe often crowding around the water holes in the dry season. Cheetah hunt on the open plains, lion pass through camp, and leopard, eland and lesser kudu are found in the dense woods on the concession. Striking landscapes offer a unique backdrop for wildlife viewing, photography and bush picnics. A cultural element can be interjected with visits to nearby Maasai villages. The sum of the ecosystems means enormous elephant herds, towers of giraffe, dazzles of zebra, predators and plenty of antelopes. Hot air ballooning in Tarangire is an optional activity that can be booked in advance at an additional cost.
Tarangire has varying concentrations of wildlife viewing depending on the season, and the below chart helps to illustrate major wildlife sightings often experienced. Other typical sightings may include about 550 bird species and a number of other mammals and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on seasonality and wildlife movements.
