Rhotia Valley is a special place. A great location along the Northern Circuit safari route, it's positioned on a hill overlooking a beautiful landscape. The tents are relatively basic, but very nice. The central lodge area is well designed and very comfortable. But what makes this place so special is the fact that the Rhotia Valley Lodge exists largely to support the Rhotia Valley School that lives on an adjacent hill. Orphaned children from local communities are taken in at the school, provided room and board, and given an education that otherwise would have been out-of-reach for these underprivileged kids. During your visit, you are invited to visit the school and meet the kids that your stay is helping to support. It is an inspiring example of how sustainable tourism is providing direct benefits to the local communities. Very impressive to experience first-hand!
