Our Expert Says
Waterbuck is a great option for families or private groups wanting their own unique space. Waterbuck is truly a home in the bush. You still have access to the facilities at nearby Kings Camp as well, so it's really the best of both worlds.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Waterbuck Camp sits near its sister lodge, Kings Camp, within the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The reserve affords guests 135,000 acres of land for exploration. Sharing a direct, unfenced border with Kruger National Park, the reserve hosts great populations of wildlife that can move freely among one of Africa's largest expanses of wilderness. The Big Five, including elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino, are present. Plains animals, such as zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and other antelopes are also found in abundance, and birdlife is prolific. Wildlife drives in open, 4x4 vehicles are scheduled in the early morning at dawn and again in the late afternoon, often lasting into the twilight hours when you may seek nocturnal species or hunting predators. During these cooler hours of the day animals tend to be more active. And guided nature walks with qualified guides allow you to view the complexity of smaller things.
Kruger National Park is a quintessential wildlife destination, featuring the Big Five and other big cats and large mammals. The below chart helps to illustrate major wildlife sightings often experienced in the area. Other typical sightings may include warthogs, baboons and a number of other mammals, birds and reptiles.
