Built in traditional Zanzibari style of hand-woven coconut palm and local woods, the lodge’s 10 thatched bandas are simple yet luxurious, with en suite showers and bathrooms and direct access to the beach. Each has a spacious private beach sala, or detached veranda, offering the ultimate in secluded relaxation, with Zanzibari sunbeds shaded by tropical casuarina pines. Airy and open in design and cooled by sea breezes, the lodge is informal and relaxed. Expect to be pampered beyond your wildest dreams. Lodge stays include three meals a day, beverages including wine, beer and soft drinks, and two activities a day from among a wide selection, including snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. A full breakfast precedes the day’s activities, and each evening, wind down over an exquisite dinner served on the beach beneath the stars – fresh seafood is usually on offer. Sleep has never been more blissful, as you’re lulled off to dreamland by the sound of waves lapping the sand.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities

Located off the coast of Zanzibar's main island, called Unguja, Mnemba Atoll is a private paradise. The tropical lagoon is a playground for all sorts of water adventures. Activities at Mnemba Island include two Scuba dives per day (full PADI certification required), snorkeling, sea kayaking, fly-fishing, paddle boarding, swimming at your leisure, sundowner dhow cruising, and private beach dinners. At additional cost enjoy Scuba diving instruction, snorkeling instruction, and deep sea fishing trips. On Zanzibar's main island, we can arrange additional excursions to Jozani forest to spot the Aders' duiker, Zanzibar red colobus monkey and Zanzibar servaline genet as well as other primates, around 50 butterfly species and 40 bird species.

Although not a primary wildlife viewing destination, Zanzibar is home to the Zanzibar red colobus monkey and the critically endangered Ader’s duiker. You will be very lucky to see the Zanzibar servaline genet here as well. Other sightings may include bush babies, mongoose, and Zanzibar tree hyrax. Birds and marine life are in abundance. Exact sightings depend on seasonality and wildlife movements.
