Important Note: Mweya is a large hotel with relatively small rooms, but it is more expensive than some Distinctive camps, because of its proximity to the Kazinga Channel.
Mweya Safari Lodge offers exceptional comfort in a remote wilderness location. Accommodations range from breeze-cooled standard rooms and deluxe air-conditioned lodge rooms to huge luxury tents and a grand Presidential Cottage furnished with leather and rich hardwoods. All have en suite facilities and magnificent views of the Kazinga Channel and Lakes George and Edward. Watch wild forest hogs grazing just outside, as well as the odd curious hippo! Enjoy a swim in the infinity pool as you identify the animals cooling off in the channel below. Lodge interiors are striking, incorporating thatch, stucco, terracotta tile and a dramatic high-ceilinged lobby. Guests may enjoy drinks amid the classic safari ambience of the Tembo Bar, and meals in the formal dining room or on the veranda, with views that will surely distract you from dinner! Special barbecues and traditional dancing are offered on Saturday nights. A health club and spa offer a range of facilities, including sauna, steam bath and relaxing treatments.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
The wildlife diversity in Queen Elizabeth National Park is astounding, with 95 mammal species and 612 different birds. The Kazinga Channel contains the world's largest concentration of hippos. Other animals regularly observed include elephant, warthog, buffalo, rare aquatic sitatunga antelope, giant forest hog, Uganda kob, topi, waterbuck, leopard and tree-climbing lions. Mweya Safari Lodge offers a range of activities to witness the wonders. Take a safari drive to see the plethora of game that dwells on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy the intimate discoveries of a guided nature walk. Choose a sunset cruise on the Kazinga Channel to view hippos and crocodiles. Hike into Kyambura Gorge in search of wild chimpanzees, red-tailed and vervet monkeys, black-and-white colobus and baboons. Queen Elizabeth Park is an absolute paradise for bird lovers. Varied habitats – lakeshore, swamp, grassland and forest – support a remarkable 612 species of birds – more than 60% of the 1,008 species of indigenous and migratory birds recorded in Uganda.
Queen Elizabeth National Park has a variety of habitats within the park, and the below chart helps to illustrate major wildlife sightings often experienced. Chimpanzee can be tracked in Kyambura Gorge, although most travelers prefer to view chimpanzee in Kibale Forest National Park. Other typical sightings may include the rare shoebill stork and a number of other mammals, birds and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on seasonality and wildlife movements.
