Review For Tortilis Camp
This was one of the larger safari camps we stayed at (16 tents), so while it didn't have the small intimate feel of some of the others, it was still quite grand. Our accommodations were very large and opened up to the African bush. The large spacious common area overlooks the surrounding area with a nice view of a waterhole that was lit up at night.
We would often encounter other vehicles while game viewing in Amboseli National Park, but once in the private reserve it was like being in our own backyard to ourselves - what an awesome 360 degree view from the hill just after you enter the reserve. Inside the reserve there was exceptional elephant viewing (best of our trip) with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background - we're talking postcard pictures. Some researchers were there, but thanks to our guide, we felt our viewing was even better than theirs including watching a full moon come up over a hill of elephants.
They surprised us one morning with a bush breakfast with omelets cooked to order and another nifty bonus was the staff using flashlights to show us the bush babies jumping around in the trees just outside of camp.
