Review For Pafuri Camp

Pafuri is a beautiful camp with some neat highlights, but fails to make my "greatest hits list". Having just come from Mashatu, where getting around in open 4X4 vehicles through dry river beds and tracking wildlife - criss-crossing across brush fields - is HALF the fun - Kruger National Park - and its asphalt roads and strict rules - is a step back. You will spend game drives traveling the same roads. It felt too "canned" safari for me. I also visited in November, long after the large elephant herds had already moved out. The camp itself, is gorgeous, the main area and bar overlooking the Luvuvhu river is gorgeous. The rooms are clean and spacious. An evening game drive to Lana Gorge was a trip highlight. Pafuri is very family friendly.

Thanks for your review! Pafuri's wildlife has become more habituated and relaxed since 2006, when the camp was newly built. Much of the driving is done on the private concession on dirt roads as well. It's certainly best followed by a traditionally wildlife-rich area, such as the Sabi Sand or Timbavati, both bordering Kruger Park. The camp is temporarily closed, however, due to flooding.
