Tintswalo Atlantic is Cape Town's best-kept secret. This 5-star, boutique lodge is perched on a pebbled beach overlooking Hout Bay at the foot of Table Mountain National Park and the famous Chapman's Peak. The panoramic view from each private veranda takes in the harbor, the Sentinel peak at the mouth of the bay and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Few Cape Town locales provide the sound of the sea washing over the rocks just outside their doors.
Our Expert Says
There is nothing quite like experiencing the Cape overlooking a village harbor and the Sentinel. It's worthwhile getting out of the city and into the dramatic, natural beauty for which this area is so special. I love spending a couple of nights in town and then a couple of nights on the seaboard to get a true sense of where I am—at the very ends of the earth.

The Lodge
Location: Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa
Number of Suites: 11
Tintswalo Atlantic is situated just beyond the village of Hout Bay, a scenic 40-minute drive from Cape Town's city center, yet easily within reach of all that the region has to offer. Each of Tinstwalo Atlantic's 11 Island Suites is uniquely decorated to represent a different island around the world, each embracing a color palette, variety of textures and artifacts unique to those destinations, yet all sharing unparalleled, west-facing sea views just beyond sliding glass doors and private verandas. Tucked against the rocky beach of Hout Bay along the Atlantic seaboard and enveloped by Table Mountain National Park, the lodge is off of the main road with a sense of seclusion not possible elsewhere in Cape Town. Ten of the suites have large beds, sitting areas, en suite bathrooms filled with natural light, and a private outdoor deck. The eleventh suite is a private refuge combining two en suite bedrooms with a shared living space, accommodating up to four guests. Food is an epic experience at Tintswalo Atlantic, where renowned chef Guy Clark creates incredibly sophisticated dishes in his open kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
