Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls. Built with an environmentally-conscious design, Thorntree draws inspiration from local customs and culture with a modern, contemporary design topped with tented roofs. Set right at the edge of the Zambezi River, expansive decks feel as if they're floating on the water, and river views permeate from almost every spot in camp.
Our Expert Says
Thorntree River Lodge is one of the few camps inside the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, so it's ideally located for Victoria Falls visits while also having an exclusive, private setting and being surrounded by nature. It exudes modern luxury in a romantic tented setting perched on the river's edge, and is the most luxurious lodge in the area.

The Lodge
Location: Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Victoria Falls, Zambia
Number of Rooms: 10
Thorntree River Lodge features eight twin rooms and two family units. The family units are comprised of two en suite rooms with an inter-leading walkway connecting the two. Each room has an en suite bathroom with a bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers as well as a private plunge pool perched at the edge of the deck overlooking the river. Sliding glass doors extend along the entire front of the room, giving the room an indoor-outdoor feel when those are fully opened. The main lodge features a lounge, bar and open dining area set beneath a tented roof with beautiful pendant lights hanging from the ceilings to create an ambient glow. A communal deck is set on the edge of the stunning riverside, and features a sunken boma area for al fresco meals under the stars and an infinity swimming pool. Wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, and moves with the water level to create the illusion of sailing a boat, which helps to achieve a seamless feel between river and land.
