A wonderful place to spend a night or a few days in Johannesburg. Tucked away from the bustle of the big city but close enough to experience all that Johaneesburg has to offer, the Saxon Boutique Hotel is a great accommodation.

The Hotel
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Number of Rooms: 53
Nelson Mandela chose the serene surroundings of the Saxon’s site to edit his bestselling autobiography A Long Walk to Freedom. Originally designed in 1990 as a private residence for one of South Africa’s leading captains, the Saxon is now an exclusive all-suite luxury hotel, with panoramic views across the gardens to Johannesburg’s skyline beyond. Each spacious room has high ceilings and is elegantly appointed with a strong nod to traditional African art. A spectacular infinity pool and surrounding terraces beckon guests to pure relaxation, while three additional pools at the private villas allow even more space and seclusion. The luxurious Saxon Spa and Studio offer a full selection of fitness equipment and wellness treatments to soothe and rejuvenate the weary traveler. The on-site restaurant serves outstanding world cuisine, while a resident pianist adds to the atmosphere. Alternatively, guests may indulge in private dining on the patio, in an exclusive dining room or even in the wine cellar.
