Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is tucked among ebony and sausage trees inside a private 260,000-acre concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. With inspiring views over the delta and grasslands, the camp overlooks lush green vegetation in the summer months when rainwater flows from the Angolan highlands, then a vast expanse of the grassy Kalahari during dry winter months. This camp is unique for its elephant interaction program, Living with Elephants, and offers a classic, tented experience.
Our Expert Says
Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is one of only a few camps in Africa where it's possible to have a sustainable, positive immersion experience with elephants. In addition to traditional safari activities, interact with rescued elephants in a way that's not otherwise possible in the wild.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Situated adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve, the camp has the distinct benefit of being located on a private 260,000-acre concession, allowing for both night wildlife drives and seasonal, guided walks, which are not allowed in the park. Wildlife is dense, including elephants, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena and much more. View predators, giraffe, zebra and other plains animals on early morning and late afternoon wildlife drives. Night drives can linger beyond sunset into the first hours of twilight, and guided walks may be possible when water levels allow. Stanley's is notable for its Living with Elephants program, giving you an opportunity to interact and walk with Jabu, Thembi and Morula, a trio of orphaned, semi-habituated elephants. This is not a contrived, zoo-like experience, but an authentic look into the intelligence and gentility of elephants. The elephant experience is an additional, optional cost to your safari.
The Okavango Delta is a year-round wildlife viewing destination, with the peak mammal viewing in the dry winter between June and October and fantastic birding all year. The below chart shows major wildlife sightings. Other typical sightings may include small mammals, such as jackals, foxes, caracal and serval, and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on weather and wildlife movements and can vary from camp to camp, since many camps are located on islands.
