Set in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Notten's is a tranquil, hidden gem. With just nine suites and only lit by candle and lamplight, Notten's showcases its history as one of the first safari lodges in South Africa and is still family-run today. Sit on your wooden deck and survey the bush for animals, take a dip in the lap pool or tell stories cozied around the fireplace.

Location: Sabi Sand Game Reserve, South Africa
Number of Rooms: 9

Notten's Bush Camp is a tranquil nine-suite camp in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. One of the original private game lodges in South Africa, this family-run accommodation offers a low-key, authentic African safari experience. The spacious, open-plan suites feature an en suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers and broad sliding glass doors that open onto your private wooden deck overlooking the bush. One of the most distinctive features of Notten's is its paraffin lanterns and candles, which replace electrical lighting. Charging facilities are available in the main area, where lounge and dining facilities sit under a timber roof and open out onto wooden decks. There is also a boma for al fresco meals on warmer evenings. A cozy wood-burning fireplace creates ambience in the cooler evenings. A 20-yard lap pool sits alongside a covered pavilion for relaxation between game drives, and an understated spa has both indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and a plunge pool.
