Wildlife Viewing & Activities

Molori is situated deep within the Madikwe Game Reserve in a secluded area of the 185,000-acre conservancy. Madikwe is home to the Big Five as well as two of Africa's most elusive predators, cheetah and wild dog. With roughly 400 wild dogs remaining in South Africa, Madikwe has one of the strongest denning populations. Wildlife drives take place during the day and at night in open 4x4 vehicles hosted by an experienced and armed guide. Equally exciting night drives reveal a variety of nocturnal wildlife, including leopard, honey badger and smaller members of the cat family. Seasonally, and depending on grass levels, guided walks with certified guides offer a different perspective on the bush while tracking animals on foot. Other activities may include rhino tagging, which is an optional conservation activity that can be pre-arranged at a additional cost, or a wild dog expedition for more in-depth study of the species, including tracking them in the early morning and learning about their social hierarchy and cooperative hunting techniques.

Madikwe's common large mammal and predator sightings are illustrated in the below chart. Other typical sightings may include warthogs, baboons, a variety of birds and a number of other mammals and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on weather and wildlife movements.
