Little Sable creates an intimate setting with eight traditional Meru-style safari tents, positioned on raised decks looking out over the grasslands. With a emphasis on hospitality, guiding and wildlife, the camp takes on a relaxed but comfortable setting with king or twin beds, writing desks, en suite bathrooms and private verandas at each tent, coupled with the laid back feel of a sunken lounge and fire pit in the main area, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and a gin and tonic in the evening, with zebra and elephant grazing just within view. The bar, dining area and lounge sit below a thatched roof on raised decking with colorful cushions and black-and-white artwork, and always a breeze of sounds and smells of the bush sweeping through.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities

In the nearly 495,000-acre Khwai Private Reserve, bordered on three sides by Botswana's most iconic wildlife areas (the Moremi, the Savuti and the Khwai Community Reserve), the Okavango Delta comes to life with mammals and birds. The landscape is classic: vast floodplains and sprawling grasslands meet patches of forested enclaves, run through by and intricate network of channels and waterways. Here, in these varied habitats, an impressive cast of species is supported. Hippo and crocodile inhabit the rivers and wetlands, big cats prowl and pass through camp occasionally, rare sable and roan antelope graze in the open along with zebra, impala, kudu and giraffe, and abundant elephant and buffalo gather in herds. Rarer species such as wild dog, serval cat, honey badger and pangolin may be seen on occasion as well! Embark on morning, afternoon and night game drives, boating and mokoro excursions and walks in this rich expanse of wilderness.

The Okavango Delta is a year-round wildlife viewing destination, with the peak mammal viewing in the dry winter between June and October and fantastic birding all year. The below chart shows major wildlife sightings. Other typical sightings may include small mammals, such as jackals, foxes, caracal and serval, and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on weather and wildlife movements and can vary from camp to camp, since many camps are located on islands.
