Little Madikwe, set in the middle of the famed Madikwe Game Reserve of South Africa, gives a nod to her sister lodge, Madikwe Hills; while the design and ethos is much the same, Little Madikwe is specially situated to host a family or small group of four to eight guests on a fully private basis. With your own private, fully serviced living and social areas, chef, vehicle and safari guide, nothing could be closer to home.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Madikwe Game Reserves is the meeting point of the Kalahari's dry savanna and the bushveld, creating one of the most diverse arrays of wildlife in a single wildlife reserve. The Big Five, including lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino, are prevalent, and the reserve has a great reputation for wild dog, a rare sighting in most other areas. Early morning wildlife drives reveal that animals are still active in the cool hours, and later in the afternoon, they emerge again, grazing and preparing to hunt at dusk. With the reserve's varied ecosystem, gemsbok (oryx), springbok, eland and kudu may also be seen. Madikwe is a private reserve, allowing guests to enjoy wildlife drives well into twilight hours, revealing nocturnal species otherwise not visible. Walks are also possible in the dryer winter months when the bush thins out and visibility is good. You have the eyes and ears of both a naturalist guide and a tracker, who sits on the front of the vehicle to spot signs of animals impressively.
Madikwe's common large mammal and predator sightings are illustrated in the below chart. Other typical sightings may include warthogs, baboons, a variety of birds and a number of other mammals and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on weather and wildlife movements.
