Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Lion Sands Tinga Lodge stays true to a story that began in 1933 with the purchase of land in what is now the Sabi Sand. Lion Sands Tinga is situated within the Kruger National Park land, bordering the Sabi Sand and enjoying the same incredible species of wildlife, from elusive leopard to powerful lion, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, spotted hyena and innumerable other mammals and birds. Being in a private concession, however, you get unique activities and excellent wildlife without the crowds. Traditional morning and afternoon wildlife drives are conducted each day, with a stop to watch the sunset and a continued search into the twilight hours as the cats begin their nightly hunts and aardvark, porcupine and owls come out. Astronomy talks put it all into perspective—you have never seen so many stars as you can here, devoid of light pollution. Guided nature walks, meals out in the bush, and even optional treehouse sleepouts are at your fingertips.
Kruger National Park is a quintessential wildlife destination, featuring the Big Five and other big cats and large mammals.
