Click here to be the first to review Kwando Lebala Camp
Kwando Lebala Camp sits in the far north of Botswana's Kwando Concession, an area where the Kwando River disappears into the marshland, only to emerge as the Linyanti River. There are few other places so remote and tranquil. Dense elephant and buffalo populations thrive in the dry season, while predators are viewed year-round, including the elusive wild dog. Drives by open 4x4's and seasonal walks showcase this pristine, wild area.
Our Expert Says
Kwando is for keen wildlife enthusiasts who prefer to focus on wildlife more so than the accommodation. This comfortable camp offers simple conveniences while putting the real emphasis on getting out and viewing wildlife by open safari vehicle, on foot and on the water.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Kwando Lebala Camp is set within the private 550,000-acre Kwando Concession, a very well-established extension of the Linyani and Selinda areas. Sightings of endangered wild dogs, while still somewhat sporadic, are common in the Kwando area relative to other areas of Botswana. Kwando enjoys enormous herds of elephant, which are particularly fond of the marula trees, and buffalo with herd sizes peaking in the dry winter months between July and September. The camp sits adjacent to the headwaters of the Linyanti marshes that form the boundary between Botswana and Namibia. Activities from Lebala Camp include early-morning and late-afternoon wildlife drives, as well as drives that linger on into twilight to seek out predators on the hunt and nocturnal creatures. Fishing and boating on the river are also offered, and guided walking is possible seasonally.
The below chart helps to illustrate major wildlife sightings often experienced in the Linyanti Reserve adjacent to the Chobe National Park. This area is well known for elephant herds, which are at their peak in the drier months of July to October, and it's a great location to track wild dogs and see lion. A variety of other mammals, birds and reptiles may be seen as well. Exact sightings will depend on weather trends and wildlife movements.
