Situated on the edge of the Gomoti river system is Gomoti Plains Camp in the eastern Okavango Delta. It's named for the gomoti tree, locally known as the water fig, which lines the waterways and provide excellent cover for nesting water birds such as herons and storks. The area is known for its large concentrations of wildlife that thrive on the Gomoti plains and waterways. This exclusive area has been a well-kept secret for many years.
The Camp

Gomoti Plains features 10 classic safari tents. These large tents are raised on wooden decks as are the main areas of the lodge. Draped in a light canvas, the tents are decorated in a classic safari style incorporating the land and water of the Okavango Delta, true to its incredible, pristine wilderness setting. All tents have hot and cold running water, indoor and outdoor showers, flush toilets and twin basins. The main areas of camp are also under a light canvas with all spaces flowing to the outside onto decks and with no shortage of incredible wilderness views.

Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Named after the river it borders, Gomoti Plains camp lies alongside one of the smaller of the water system’s flood plains. Enjoy twice daily wildlife drives seeking Africa's elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other fascinating and magnificent animals. Seek out nocturnal wildlife on a night drive. In this private concession you can also enjoy guided bush walks, mokoro activities and birding. Gomoti is a wildlife-rich area with excellent sightings including lion prides, wild dog dens, large herds of buffalo and a variety of plains game.
The Okavango Delta is a year-round wildlife viewing destination, with the peak mammal viewing in the dry winter between June and October and fantastic birding all year. The below chart shows major wildlife sightings. Other typical sightings may include small mammals, such as jackals, foxes, caracal and serval, and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. Exact sightings will depend on weather and wildlife movements and can vary from camp to camp, since many camps are located on islands.
