Located directly on the V & A Waterfront next to the yacht basin, with its shops and restaurants a short, safe stroll away at any time of day or night, the Victoria & Alfred Hotel is one of the most appealing places to stay in Cape Town. Originally the North Quay Warehouse constructed in 1904, the building was converted into a luxury hotel in 1990. Rooms feature chic decor that combines traditional and contemporary elements, complete with marble bathrooms. The hotel offers a variety of facilities and amenities to create a memorable stay, including the outdoor waterfront veranda and swimming pool set amidst private, palm-shaded gardens. Superb local cuisine is the specialty at Ginja Restaurant, featuring outdoor dining with a magnificent view of Table Mountain. Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Although not a primary wildlife viewing area, marine life abounds off the shores of the Cape. This is one of the only places in the world to see breaching great white sharks, typically best from July to October, as well as year-round African penguins, Cape fur seals and common dolphins. Cape mountain zebra, ostrich, chacma baboon, and other mammals and birds are found in Cape Point Nature Reserve and Table Mountain National Park.
