Luxury Kenya Safari - Free Flights!
Africa’s oldest safari destination, Kenya still offers visitors the superlative wildlife encounters the country has long been renowned for. This sampler includes three of Kenya’s most impressive nature sanctuaries: Solio Game Conservancy, Samburu National Reserve and the famed Maasai Mara National Reserve. Watch elephants trundle across the savanna beneath snowcapped Mount Kenya, scout for black rhinos making an impressive comeback at Solio, and marvel at plains game crossing the Mara plains with vigilant predators in pursuit.
Nairobi
Day 1
A rough outpost amidst a highland swamp as the colonial capital of British East Africa in 1907, Nairobi today is the urban heartbeat of independent Kenya and one of Africa’s most important cities. Nairobi has long been a meeting point for adventurers and travelers from all over the world, and most Kenya safaris still originate here. Nairobi’s national museum and the historic home of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa, are popular attractions.
House of Waine
The House of Waine, located in the serene suburb of Karen on the outskirts of Nairobi, was originally built as a lavish private estate. Later acquired by a local family, the elegant property was carefully refurbished, resulting in the unique boutique hotel that exists today. The stately home offers guests an authentic experience of personalized African hospitality with individually designed rooms, modern amenities and traditional Kenyan charm.
Lewa / Laikipia
Days 2–4
The dramatic Laikipia region, wild and sparsely populated, has become a center for global conservation leadership. Much of Laikipia is comprised of privately owned ranches that have been combined by local communities to create vast conservancies, with free-ranging wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and abundant plains game. Renowned among Laikipia’s sanctuaries is Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, which has played a critical role in sustaining endangered rhinoceros, Grevy’s zebra and sitatunga.
Solio Lodge
Solio Lodge is situated within its very own private wildlife sanctuary, tucked in the valley between the rising slopes of Mount Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountains. Intimacy and exclusivity are showcased in the luxurious lodge's five private cottages, each individually decorated with comfort, style and the view in mind. The lodge opened in August 2010 and remains the only guest accommodation on the expansive 45,000-acre Solio Game Reserve.
Samburu Nat'l Reserve
Days 5–8
At the heart of Samburu’s rugged wilderness in arid northern Kenya, the Ewaso Nyiro River flows—a permanent water supply and oasis that is a magnet for wildlife. Samburu offers Kenya’s most frequent leopard sightings, also lion, cheetah, elephant and buffalo. Found only in this region are such creatures as reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra. Birdwatching is superb, with numerous weaver birds, martial eagle and blue-legged Somali ostrich.
Sasaab Lodge
Combining the height of comfort and luxury with an epic African wilderness experience, it’s no wonder Sasaab is one of Kenya’s most acclaimed safari camps. The tranquil yet stylish lodge is set in an evocative, wild landscape that’s home to the culturally proud Samburu tribe. Perched on a half-mile-long hillside, Sasaab overlooks the Ewaso Nyiro River in a region replete with rare and endangered wildlife.
Maasai Mara Nat'l Reserve
Days 9–11
The famed Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s most acclaimed wildlife reserves, renowned for its wildebeest migration, prides of lion and huge herds of plains animals. The Mara is the northern portion of the Serengeti Plains, and we find excellent wildlife viewing all year long in these grasslands. The reserve is named for the Maasai tribespeople, the traditional inhabitants of the area who graze cattle here, and the Mara River that runs through it.
Sala's Camp
Sala’s Camp is located in the southern reaches of the Maasai Mara near the confluence of the Sand and Keekerok rivers, which lure thirsty wildlife from the surrounding plains, including those crossing over from the Serengeti. The camp, which features eight exclusive tented suites, pairs tradition with understated luxury and an intimate setting that allows unique access to one of the wildest and most remote regions of the reserve, Human crowds are non-existent, but the area teems with wild animals.
