Wildlife & Activities
N/a’an ku se was established in 2006 to support the conservation of Namibia’s vulnerable wildlife and the lives of the local San Bushman people. Toward that end, the organization operates several projects, including a wildlife sanctuary on its 3200-hectare reserve that provides a safe haven for various orphaned and injured African animals. While the goal is always long-term rehabilitation whenever possible, the sanctuary provides a refuge for those animals that can no longer exist in the wild on their own. Sanctuary residents include lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, caracal, baboon, bat-eared fox, duiker, steenbok and meerkat. Outside the sanctuary, the reserve supports an abundance of roaming wildlife including giraffe, zebra, kudu, hartebeest, springbok, eland, jackal, and wild cheetah and leopard. N/a’an ku se carnivore research program allows guests a chance to track big cats, feed carnivores in the sanctuary, watch cheetahs run, and walk with caracals on the veld. Guided bird watching and San Bushman star talks are also available.
Wildlife Viewing & Activities
Although Windhoek is not a wildlife viewing destination, it offers easy access to all regions of Namibia, as well as parts of Botswana and South Africa.

Conservation
Marlice van Vuuren, one of Namibia’s most well-known conservationists, and her husband Dr. Rudie van Vuuren, started N/a’an ku sê Foundation in 2006 with two aims—to protect and conserve Namibia’s wildlife and to improve the lives of the marginalized San Bushman community. The organization’s philosophy is "conservation through innovation" to create sustainable and long-term solutions that will preserve Namibia’s heritage in trust for future generations. All profits from the foundation’s ecotourism activities go directly to benefit its wildlife conservation work and projects in support of the San Bushman community, including childhood education and healthcare. The foundation’s Carnivore Conservation Research Program studies and protects threatened wild cheetahs, leopards and brown hyena. In addition to proceeds from the lodge and tourist activities, donations and volunteer work supplement the foundation’s work. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have chosen N/a’an ku se as a recipient of large charitable contributions in honor of their Namibian-born daughter, Shiloh.
